Breast Uplift / Mastopexy
Often referred to as a ‘mastopexy’, or more simply just a breast lift, Breast Uplift surgery involves the tightening of the tissue around the breast to offer more shape and support, consequently raising the breasts. Throughout our lives, there are a number of factors that can negatively impact the fullness and support that once gave our breasts the beautiful, natural shape that we desire. A breast uplift can help women to regain their confidence after aspects such as ageing, weight loss and childbirth have all taken their toll on the body. In many cases, patients choose to combine a breast uplift with breast augmentation surgery in order to correct the position of the breasts while volumising and lifting.
A breast uplift is performed under general anaesthetic. By making a small incision on each breast, your surgeon can effectively lift and stitch the skin into a new position, alongside the removal of excess skin, and the repositioning of the nipples to ensure that the outcome is as desirable and natural-looking as possible. Patients who are looking for a fuller effect from their results are often advised to consider the uplift/augmentation combination procedure, which is a longer process that involves the insertion of implants. See our breast augmentation page for more information.
How long does a Breast Uplift procedure take?
A breast uplift alone usually lasts up to 2 hours. If combined with breast augmentation surgery, you can expect a procedure between 2.5 – 3 hours.
How long until I see results?
This is a very significant and immediate change to the appearance to your breasts, which, combined with the initial swelling, has an instant physical impact.
How long do the results last after a Breast Uplift?
There is no reason why your results shouldn’t be permanent, providing your follow the aftercare advice of your surgeon carefully and thoroughly. Failing to do so could lead to further sagging, which may require a top up procedure at about 10 years post-surgery.
What are the associated side effects?
It will come as no surprise that you should expect temporary swelling, bruising and redness while your wounds heal and your newly lifted breast settle, post-Breast Uplift. Initial pain can be managed with prescribed pain relief.
Are there any risks involved?
Any surgical procedure is met with the prospect of excessive bleeding, blood clots, allergic reaction or infection. Where incisions have been made, there is the possibility of rather unsightly, thick scarring that is obvious to the naked eye, and of course there is a chance the patient may be unsatisfied with the outcome that has been achieved. Inexperienced surgeons run the risk of undesirable, asymmetric results, although this isn’t a concern for the expert team at The Pabari Clinic. Mr Amit Pabari’s reputation precedes him as a highly trained and experienced cosmetic surgeon, implementing only the most advanced surgical techniques that offer the best possible results. In rare cases, you may experience reduced nipple sensitivity and the inability to breastfeed.
What does the downtime involve?
In many cases, patients are required to stay overnight in the hospital as we monitor the results of your surgery, before allowing you to return home for up to 2 weeks off work for proper rest and recovery. Within a week it will be safe to have your stitches removed, and within 2 weeks you should see your initial side effects, such as swelling and bruising, gently subside. While every patient and their recovery process is different, you should try to avoid particularly strenuous activities for up to 6 months as you fully heal. It is also a good idea to wear a support bra both throughout the day and the night to help effectively lift your breasts as they heal.
Who is suitable for Breast Uplift?
A thorough discussion and consultation between you and Mr Pabari will determine whether this type of surgery is suitable for you. If you suffer with any of concerns mentioned above, such as excess skin or deflated, sagging breasts, there is no reason why a Breast Uplift shouldn’t offer the results you desire.
How much does a Breast Uplift cost?
A final cost will be discussed and confirmed at the end of your consultation process. However, this price will increase should you decide to combine your procedure with a breast augmentation.
